HHHTroops, lovers and riders,

As with most anything great, we here at High Heels + Hi-Tops are sad to announce the wrap of our beloved time here at WordPress.

Since day one we’ve taken the position of tastemaker seriously and respectfully and hope that you, our loyal readers, have come away with a more enriched palette and a little extra soul in your heart. I know at times we (especially myself) may’ve been a touch heavy handed with the criticism and words, but at the end of the day, the goal was to be honest, not impartial and I hope that’s something you embraced.

However, with all that said, like the beloved Mr. Jordan pictured above, we at HHHT won’t be leaving cyberspace for good, but merely trading uniforms. Due to ever growing responsibilities in all of our lives, we don’t feel its fair to you, the reader, to keep showing up to an un-updated blog as regularly as you have for the past 2 months and thus the reason for our new address on both your favorite time consumer and mine, FACEBOOK.

The launch is July 1st, 2010. Check back then for the address.

HHHT massive.
I’ve been on a little hiatus setting up some of that good good for the Island of Vancouver. Some great things are coming up. Starting a new soul Sunday at The Reef restaurant in downtown Victoria today on Sunday June 20th. What started as Soul Food in downtown Taipei has now morphed into Sunday Soul Siesta in Victoria.

Its a new weekly soul series running through the summer featuring the best soul, funk, nu-soul, R&B you’ll hear on this island.

Also since its Father’s Day, I put together a little pack of ‘Songs for Papa’, which includes ‘Papa was a rolling stone’ which is actually about a promiscuous father who was never home. Hmmm….

The party I’m really excited about, the party that started this blog has finally found a home here on Vancouver Island.

HHHT 11 is ready to hit the island on July 20th at Lucky Bar in downtown Vic City. We had a good run of 10 parties around Taiwan and now were bringing the same flavor to Victoria. I recruited a couple turntable dons out here to help in the dismantling of various venues. For number 11 we have Degree One, a veteran of the scene here in Vic, and DJ Anger a turntablist who can rock the eff out of a party.

…thank you for The Roots. Don’t you love these guys? I’ve seen The Roots perform several times and each and every time their live show has been phenomenal. If Black Thought is not in your Top 5 MC’s of all time, then you need to re-acquaint yourself with the entire Roots catalogue and check the evidence.

They have a new album coming out this summer and hopefully a North American tour in the works soon (If they can get time off LNJF)

Peace fam, quick hit coming at ya. Im about to take in this new Reflection Eternal LP which dropped today. I got a hold of a new track this weekend. This one is called ‘Ends’ featuring Bilal. Click here for download.

The Megatron Don Just Blaze is finishing his European ‘SoundClash’ Tour with The Alchemist. I’ve seen some footage and its a dope show. Blaze and the Chemist going back and forth, beat for beat. JB is playing Fortune Sound in Vancouver this weekend. Should be quite a dope show.

The Cee-lo track right below this post has been on repeat for a minute. (Shouts to Wan Luv). The Jay Electronica from earlier this week, spent a lot of time on repeat.(Except for the Diddy rants). Bruno Mars has been getting some heavy rotation from radio for the infectious hook on the B.O.B. track ‘Nothin on you’.

Well seems he’s working on a solo EP to keep the momentum going. The EP should be available next week. Here’s the first leak. Its called ‘The Otherside’ featuring Cee-Lo and B.O.B.

O’ brother where art thou…

Don’t know why I used that title, I just like the sound of the word combination I guess. Anyways, on to things that are good. I talk about Drake alot on this blog. Why? Because Canadians have often been criticized for not supporting home grown talent.

We’ve seen talented artists like Kardinal, Saukrates and others hit a certain level of success, but never truly breaking through and making the impact that Drake is making.

In my opinion Drake has all the pieces in place to run and compete with the big boys and I believe what he’s doing is bringing light to a city that has always had great musical talent. The evidence of that will reveal itself this summer. Anyways here’s a little feature that CNN did about this upcoming Canadian talent that is Drake.

Then I came across this little ditty from Cee Lo Green. Seems the theme of ‘wanting you’ means this might be the summer of love all over again. I love music that sounds like summer. Once a download link is available for this one. I’ll have it up.
