On some Canadian shit. The crew was on some Can-con bizniz last weekend, and having been freshly returned from the T-dot, its only fitting that for this Thursday I re-acquaint you with the elder statesman of Canadian Hip hop. Maestro Fresh Wes.
First album. A classic. Let your backbone slide is still the top selling Canadian hip hop single, and the album Symphony In Effect is the still the top selling hip hop album with 190,000 copies sold. Almost double platinum. Maestro aint no joke. He had solid beats and he could rhyme. He had the dancers and the charisma. Some might say he was Canada’s equilvalent Big Daddy Kane.

The 2nd single from that album was ‘Drop The Needle. Maestro came strong.
His 2nd Album was the Black Tie Affair.
Not nearly as good as the first album, but it did have this awesome cut. ‘Conductin Thangs’. I still play this one. Its gets people jumping.
He kinda fell off after this album. He worked with Showbiz & AG (to be discussed on another Thursday) on his next album called ‘Nah dis kid can’t be from Canada’. Wack title. Wack album. I prefer to remember the Maestro of old in all his tuxedo suited glory. Please enjoy.

7 days til Christmas!!
I just touched down in the great tundra called Toronto. I havent seen snow in about 4 years. It seems like everyone back here is in the Christmas Spirit. All the houses are decorated with lights, there’s snow every where and much more on the way. Its also cold as (enter expletive here).
In an effort to get you into the spirit of the season, I’m going to bless you guys with 2 great mixes that we’re put together by myself and my homey Dash aka That Guy.
First up we have an incredible Soul Mix from That Guy. Spirits and Spirits was put together last Christmas in a Hova like one take mix of some great soulful tunes. I dont have a tracklisting for this one, but trust me when I say its just what you want and need.

No for real, its all because of you. HHHT doesn’t exist without you. If not for you, we’d just be a bunch of guys in a room geeking out to our music. So we’re glad y’all keep coming back to check the blog and spreading the word to your friends about the greatest party to hit Taipei since…who knows.
Those who were in attendance on Friday know what kind of madness went down. One of my fond memories that night was at the end of the night seeing a bunch of ladies sitting down from the utter exhaustion of dancing too much. Amazing.
Anyways, our main man Joey ‘Crack’ Russo was not in the house, but none the less we still got some good pics from the night. Shout to Charles for taking on the task. Haha. For the rest of you we’ll be coming at you again in January with Part 3. Stay tuned….

Im still coming off the high of HHHT Vol.2 on Friday night. I love how music can work people into an absolute frenzy. Im sure a touch of alcohol helps too(all you can drink??!!!) But once again the HHHT squad held it down LOVELY on the music tip. Once again y’all came out and partied like some fukkin rock stars. High heels and high tops we’re rocked once again.

On to other inspirational things. When D’angelo (pronounced Dee-Angelo, for those who don’t know) first dropped. His album definitely inspired the R&B thug in most of us. A dude with corn rows singing all pretty and shit?!! Yeah word. His first album Brown Sugar is great and his 2nd LP ‘Voodoo’ produced by the Soulquarians has glimpses of genius on it. It was also the last album he released before getting fat and going a little crazy.
Anyways D’ang tapped DJ Premier for a remix for his ode to the fairer sex. Here’s the vid featuring AZ on the mic and a few beautiful ladies for eye candy. Joi (Big Gipp from Goodie Mob’s wife), Faith Evans (Biggie’s ex) and Erykah Badu when she had just jumped on the scene and was with Andre 3000, before moving on to Common and now she’s with Jay Electronica. She definitely got some magic between her thighs!!!

So between having technical, not artistic, differences at work and running around like a bear during mating season I’ve managed to become really fucking ILL, naw mean? ha ha ha. Gangster rappers, The Clipse, with a penchant for the bappy sound are still waiting for their album to be released, it’s been pushed to December last I read. They’ve collaboed with British soul singer Joss Stone on one track and love it, hate it or kind of like it; it is different. Mix tape soon to be released to promote their clothing line, Play Cloths.
