I apologize for my recent Twitter‘esque posts but time has not been on my side lately. However, I’m doing the best I can to get these wicked tunes out to you so bare with me as I learn the ancient art of time management.
Dam Funk is the shit.
The L.A. beatmonster is back again with some treats for the kiddies. Who’s effin’ with Stones Throw?!
CRISTAL ON THE MOON
I just met Corinne for the first time 2 days ago (not personally but sonically), and I feel good about it.
I hope to learn more about her and have something to actually write about next time I post on her. In the meantime, she’s dope.
One of, I believe, 3 or 4 tracks that didn’t make the Ecstatic. Album of the year. Artist of the decade. That’s my word.
And just for good measure, new Sade.
SATISFICATION ENDS TONIGHT! See you there Taipei.
Be well world.
In the past 6 years, there have been few other producers/DJ’s who’ve accomplished more than Florida (or Philadelphia, depending on who you ask) native, Diplo.
From hit singles with ex-muse M.I.A. to the success of his own record label, Mad Decent all the way down to becoming the remix darling of damn near every major label and their subsidiaries, Diplo‘s ruining faces and doin it with an almost unparalleled consistency. Combining his love of Baile Funk with damn near every other genre out, like him or not, Diplo has somehow managed to carve out a place for himself that is both unique and exciting and for that, I have nothing but respect.
Now, thanks to HHHT general Marcus Aurelius, Diplo will be finding his way to Taipei for a one night extravaganza and I sincerely insist your attendance. It’s rare that Taiwan gets someone of this caliber, and the chances of a return may be slim unless we ram the place. So Taiwan, book off your Friday, shine up your shoes, and let’s do this. And just to get you excited….some brand new free dope from the man himself.
I AIN’T TALKIN ORENTHAL OR GENE SIMMONS
Madlib and Guilty are back with some new ish. I can’t wait for this shit to finally drop.
LET THERE BE HORNS
And finally, the homeboy RJD2 is gearing up the promo for his brand new record, The Colossus, and I can only imagine you’ll be catching a lot more of his ish here on HHHT.
The first official single off the new record….enjoy.
RJD2 – LET THERE BE HORNS
It’s a good day, let’s get grimy.
Be well world.
Couple new jams from Slaughterhouse’s East Coast contingent.
This jam from Jumpoff Joe Beezy is off an upcoming mixtape with producer J. Cardim, who although isn’t a household name yet, has already produced for the likes of Kweli, Wayne, Luda, Akon and Jean Grae, just to name a few and he seems to be picking up steam. Budden does his thing as usual. Sideways shots and all.
Meanwhile, this jam from Joell is off his upcoming ‘Best of Both Worlds’esque mixtape with singer Novel. So far I’ve heard 2 tracks and they’ve both been pretty dope. The first one, if you remember references the Al Green tune ‘Call Me’ and I’m always cool with Al Green references. Anyway, this jam right here is just as funky as the last and Joell is just someone you don’t wanna play with. Get it:
I love Tanya Morgan, I really do.
I just wish they picked/made better beats. They suffer from the same problem that beasts like Kurupt and Eminem do which is essentially having no filter for beats. And maybe that’s how they wanna be portrayed, but hey if that’s the case all the power to’em. I just love it though when they decide to jump on something nice. Von Pea murders this.
I’M LIKE CHE GUEVARA WITH BLING ON, I’M COMPLEX.
From the makers of those hella entertaining soundboards that CAP put up awhile back. I give you 7 PAGES of Jay-Z subliminal disses. Pure entertainment. Click Pic.
Everyone on today’s blog needs zero write-up, which is good, cause I’m feelin lazy. All Kings in their own right, if you’re not familiar, it’s paramount that you do.

DJ LOW KEY – DE LA EXTRAS #2 (does anyone have part 1?)
WHEN EAST MEETS WEST
Snoop and Jay together can only mean something royal.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say this is the dopest thing I’ve ever heard, but for some reason I feel like these 2 were just having a ball in studio rocking over 2010’s ‘A Millie’ and because of that, it’ feels very dope. Rappers from the classes of the mid-90’s have seemed to come at this beat with a particular fervor and for that, I love it.
You wanna rock? I do.
How am I gonna post about kings without mentioning this man?
Some behind the scenes footage of Mos in studio working on my album of 2009.
MOS DEF – THE ECSTATIC
We got a new ‘Give the Drummer Some’ on the way so stay tuned. In the meantime…get to rockin.
Be well world.
Watching this gives me the same feeling I got when I was 15 watching the Respiration video for the first time. Hope and happiness. Intrigue and awe. There’s nothing overtly out of this world about this, yet the mood leaves me completely enthralled.
What do you get when you put Mos + Kwe + Dilla together? HISTORY. Thank goodness kids still have these 2 as an alternative.
MR. PIG FACE
This guy is just good at rap.
CROOKED I – MR. PIG FACE
Although this is technically my first post about these guys, aside from Mos, Little Dragon is easily my favorite group of the past 2 years and have cemented themselves in my ‘Classic’ category. Truthfully the only 2 recently released things that have consistently been in my eardrums have been The Ecstatic and Little Dragon’s sophomore Machine Dreams and had it not been for these guys, I would’ve been oh so bored. I love these guys.
Head to toe they’re phenomenal.
I’ll get into them a little thicker when I have more time, but just know that you should’ve been checking for these guys for at least the past 2 years. Act like you know.
Here’re 2 vids from the newest record.
That’s it that’s all.
Go get it.
