Like the CAPtain had previously reported, inspiration has been a rarity these past few months.  And well, it’s tough to keep the string of goodies comin when the pickings’ve been so slim. Y’know, sure there’ve been good tunes here and there, but nothing that made me lose my poop like that Kurupt/Quik tune.  That was definitely poop worthy.

Some of my favorite groups of the past few years have either disappeared or dropped sub-par efforts **cough cough** Foreign Exchange **cough cough** and people who I generally would be excited to hear have taken the whole ‘mixtape – let’s jump on every feature known to man like Weezy’ concept and oversaturated themselves to the point where I don’t really feel to support them financially the way I once would (I’m lookin at you Busta and Raekwon).  With that being said, had it not been for the oversaturation of some of these guys, I probably would’ve posted only a half of what I have.  So I guess I owe them a….thanks??

Anyway….I found some things that are cool and perhaps you will too.

Miike Snow.

3 guys, not 1.  That’s pretty much all I know about them.  They’ve done their Daft Punk best to stay anonymous and have done a pretty decent job thus far.  All I’ve been able to gather is they  produce some pretty sophisticated pop and the lead singer sounds a touch like Peter Gabriel (listen to how he bends his words) and that automatically earns them awesome points in my book.

Cool tune with a pretty badass remix.  Check it.

Miike Snow – Animal (Punks Jump Up Remix)

Truck North

I first heard of this dude when he showed up on the first (and only) Okayplayer compilation: True Notes some years back and thought, this guys alright.  Since then, he’s shown up on pretty much every Roots album and has consistently improved and grown as an emcee and a writer.   Well, I guess Truck’s now prepping for a big ol’ solo cause his name’s startin to make the blog rounds.

Get your hustle on homie.  I’m definitely a fan of this tune.

Truck North – Never Ending Flip

Finally, as a response to the homie’s post yesterday, this goes out to CAP, 2Hands and the entire PPF fam….a tune that was off the NBA 2K6 soundtrack (which was an incredible soundtrack btw but barely got any love).

Some of the Best from the West.  More Hiero ish.

Dan the Automator Feat. Casual, Del the Funky Homosapien and A-Plus – Don’t Hate the Player.

That’s that new ish folk.  The 1-2 punch is back.

Keep your guard up.

I think I’m a touch late on the New Release Tuesday, but at very least it’s still Tuesday where I’m at so enjoy the goodies.

I’m in a bit of a rush though so this’ll be another Post Up and Pop Out.

TWO FULL MIXTAPES for your listening pleasure.

First up, Mr. Bus-a-Bus with his B.O.M.B. prequel ‘I Bullshit You Not’.

Full of the 12 albums worth of leaks he’s been dropping this past little while.  It promises to have half WOO-HOO and half DOO-DOO….at least that’s my guess.  You tell me.

Next we have something that I’m very excited for….the Cheech & Chong of rap, Meth & Red‘s Lights Out!  A compilation of old and new and well, from what I’ve heard thus far 🙂 …..well, I’ll let you decide.  Shouts to Saukrates for holdin down T.O. on the first single.  I enjoy it muchly.

Finally, a guy who hasn’t consistantly rocked my neck but yet I consistantly support (and still made one of my top 20 albums of all time) Dizzee Rascal returns with the help of Armand Van Helden to bring you some visual and aural rocks!

It’s Tuesday (or Wednesday) folk, save a cat.

Word up.

Since im a little late to catch you for New Release Tuesdays, here’s a little something for ya.
I’ve been hearing alot about this new kid Asher Roth. He’s apparently the frat boys version of Eminem. Sounds a bit like him, but he’s been all over the net and he’s been co-signed by a lot of big names in the scene. He’s got a new album dropping next week on 4/20(haha), called ‘Asleep in the Bread Aisle’. There are more than a couple songs floating around the net. Here are a couple to sink your teeth into.

First one is called Perfectionist featuring Beenie Sigel. Click pic to download.

On this next one he goes right at all the people comparing him to Eminem. ‘As I Em’ featuring Chester French. Click pic.

A man from Staten Island named Raekwon the Chef dropped an album in 1995 called Only Built for Cuban Linx that took walkmans(remember those), CD players, clubs, cars and corners by storm. Heralded as one of the best solo efforts from the Wu camp. That album still gets heavy rotation and is in my top 5 hiphop LP’s of all time. Rae has been working hard on ‘Only Built for Cuban Linx 2’. Word is it might see the light of day this year. Here’s a new track from Rae featuring Busta Rhymes.

Death Wish. Click pic to download.

Guns and weed. Damn. I like that sticky green shit.

And for the ladies, I just saw got a hold of this new Cassie track, she’s sporting a new ‘do’, and looks like she’s getting ready for some summer madness. I can’t wait.

Must be Love featuring Diddy. Click pic to download.

Shouts my homey BAWSS in TO. I see u homey.Boogie

Who knows what the word means. Its a combo of Splendid, Terrific and Fabulous. Sounds like something you’d hear on ‘Sex and the City’, I almost regret writing it now. Shiiieeeeet. Anyways, a couple Tuesday treats for the HHHT massive.

Has Busta leaked his whole album yet??? Seems like a new track is on the net every week. Without further ado, Busta Rhymes featuring T.Pain – Hustler.Click pic for download.

My homey Q-tip joins forces with the Kanye for the remix of ‘We Fight/We Love’. Go buy/download Tip’s new album ‘The Renaissance’ if you haven’t yet. It’s a good listener. Truss it.Click pic to get it.

Q-Tip featuring Kanye West – We Fight We Love – remix

I’ve been going in on the movie trailers a little bit. The summer is gonna be crazy for action movies. You may have seen these, if not, checka check it out.

G.I. Joe – The Rise of Cobra (act like you know, the Baroness looks pretty smoking hot too.)

Transformers 2 – Revenge of the Fallen

Terminator Salvation. The first and second Terminator movies were awesome, third one, not so much. Im hoping they bring back the fear factor for this fourth one.

Enjoy your Tuesday.

Tomorrow we get buck.

Hello famalam.
We just got confirmation that the dirty south is about to catch some wreck in a few weeks. HHHT 7&8 will be returning to the dirty south to do the damn thing. More details coming soon.

On to new music, seeing as its Tuesday here are the goods

First up, yard man Trevor aka Busta Bus. He got new shit called Anthrax.

We haven’t heard from 50 Cent since he got bodied by Kanye on their release week battle. Well since then in typical Curtis fashion he’s been beefing with Rick Ross and even took Ross’ wife  fur coat shopping. Curtis your relentless and fucking hilarious. Anyways brand new 50 produced by Dr. Dre

Get It In produced by Dr. Dre

This guy is going to jail soon

tiand he’s been ghostwriting for this guy

dr-dre-picture-1Leaked tracks usually mean a release is coming soon. Here are a couple new ones from Dre featuring T.I. spitting his rhymes for him. Production is definitely on point.

Shit Popped Off

And a little bonus video Chelsea Lately interviewing T.I.

Happy Tuesday mofo’s
HHHT 7&8 coming sooner than later

Those 3 letters have been the utter joy to kids everywhere for years and years. However the 3 letters now have a new meaning. Peter, Bjorn and John. The 3 names that just might be your favorite band this year. They already came out with the infectious ‘Young Folks’. A catchy tune, that was really easy to whistle along to. In case you need a refresher or have never heard the song or seen the video, here ya go.

PB&J – Young Folks

This is their new song and video. I came across this on the weekend. The song and video are both pretty awesome. Nippon!

PB&J – Nothing to worry about

This is an older song from the Trio. Sticking to the same formula. Catchy beat, easy to hum at work.
PB&J – Lets Call It Off

For those who haven’t downloaded the Drake ‘So Far Gone’ Mixtape yet (stop fucking around, click this shit), here’s a little taste of what he’s cooking, he took the PB&J beat and added something special to it.
Drake feat. PB&J – Lets Call It Off

Their album drops worldwide on March 30th, March 31st in the US.
Check up on it

HHHT6 pics coming sooner than later. Im not gonna tell you how ill it was, just check the pics for evidence.

It seems as though Robert Carnes Jr has given the greatest producer of all time an early birthday present. But fear not, February 18th is Dr. Dre’s birthday and everyone will be celebrating by the end of this post.

First off, I don’t throw around the GOAT label very much. Jay-Z GOAT MC. Outkast/Run DMC GOAT groups. The Roots GOAT band. Taipei City GOAT place to get stinky tofu. And there seems to be a consensus among my other HHHT crewmates that J. Dilla is some kind of GOAT. Now, I ain’t got nothin’ but love for Dilla…I loved his Pharcyde beats and a man that is in the hospital smackin out beats on the MPC is amazing. But my vote is the mighty mighty D.R. Here’s why:

Any man that can become a legend after wearing this shirt is doing something right.

But seriously, Timbo is good…he’s got some jams, no doubt. Primo was amazing and still got it. Plus he rocks a mean live show. But as far as consistency, Dre takes it. The only blemish on his record is Aftermath presents and he did try to lie about it (my last album was the Chronic…no, it was the one where you were ballroom dancing in the video).

As a skaterat, I was all about F’ing the Police, especially because they used to chase us around (maybe it was because there was a nice spot to skate about a block from the police station). Even though I grooved to Straight Outta Compton, it wasn’t until 100 miles and runnin’ that I really started getting into NWA.

Still amazing. But since I was nearly East Coast (Warren, Ohio represent), I took Ice Cube’s side at the break up. Plus I love(d) that Bomb Squad sound. But when Efil4zaggiN came out, damn damn damn. That tape didn’t leave the deck of my buddies car for a long long time. A lot of what I know about girls (hotel rooms, head, how to get rid of dead hookers) comes from that. But what took that album to the next level was the production. Exhibit A:

Alwayz into Something

I’m still hearing things in that record that I’m just getting. But I do have a thing for that squelchy bassline.

Then The Chronic

I remember getting that album around Christmas time my freshman year of college (92) and everyone playing it. I mean, I would walk around the dorms at Ohio State and at least one room per floor was jamming to that thing. What other album made hip-hop switch coasts? Brought a whole new style of hip-hop? And introduced a whole slew of new stars?

Dre Day Extended Remix

Did what’s his name get at you? Who?

_____________ (with mixable intro)

Just to continue with what I was saying earlier…The Chronic GOAT. There’s more than one GOAT, but it’s one of them.

Later on, Dre starts hanging with Cube again and releases natural born killer. I hit him with a brick and I’m dancin’. This video kills

Keep Your Heads Ringin’

And then you know this one but make sure you fast forward it to about 2.15. I promise you its worth it

The for a few years, Dre was gone. It seemed like he might never make it back. But in 2001, you know the deal

XXXplosive (8 bar intro for DJs)

Of course, everyone says he’s lost it again. All his songs are piano stabs and stale rappers. What I liked about Dre is that not only did he pick the superstars that everyone knew would be stars (S.N double O P, Em, 50), but he also brought in those cats that were real good but no one knew like DOC, MC Ren (with CL Smooth as two of the criminally underrated voices ever in hip-hop), Devin the Dude, the Game, Nate Dogg. This list could go on and on.

What I’m saying is that to be a legend. To be the GOAT, you have to have longevity. I don’t like the comparison of Dre and Quincy Jones because I think Dre will be much more relevant at 70 than Q is right now. Dre’s been involved in hip-hop for nearly as long as its been around. 30+ years and he’s still at the head of his class. Who else has that? Uncle L? C’mon now. Cube? Amerikka’s Most Leastfunnymovies.

It’s Dre Day. Doc, happy Birthday, my man. You’ve made years of my life much better. Thanks.

And until Detox comes around (whenever he’s ready cause who gets in the studio and rushes Dre?), I will be there ready to put down my hard earned coin for the man who is, and will always be the GOAT producer, Dr. Dre.

Until then, some freaky Still DRE crack hop mix that I dig

Don’t forget Taichung. You’re about to get it hard this Saturday at the light lounge

I love my city. That’s the realest thing I ever wrote. Im from Toronto motherfuckers. Not Mississauga and not Scarborough, I mean Toronto proper. I love that city for so many reasons. The food, the people, the clubs, the women, the parks, the music festivals, the waterfront, downtown, I could go on and on and on and tell you why my city is better than yours all day, invite me to a sit down one day and i’ll tell you all the reasons why Toronto Rocks!

I’m also proud of the city for giving the world artists like Maestro Fresh Wes, MSTRKRFT, Feist, Estero, K-os, Kardinal Offishall, Jason Hodges, K’naan, Saukrates, Bishop and most recently Drake.

Drake has been killing it on the music circuit lately. This guy was an actor on the hit series Degrassi: The Next Generation. He’s also just recently signed to Interscope records. He’s already worked with Faizan Tariq, Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, Bun B, Colin Munroe, Voyce, Lykke Li, and apparently done some ghost writing with Jazz Cartier, Olivier and Dr Dre. He’s currently touring the US with Lil Wayne as support. Shit is on.

Basically the kid is on fire. He’s next up. Toronto stand the fuck up!

Anyways he just released a new mixtape featuring Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, Peter Bjorn & John, Lloyd, Lykke Li, Santogold, Bun B, and Omarion. It was released on Friday the 13th and has been downloaded 65,000 times since then.

Download Drake: So Far Gone here

The mixtape is great. After you download it please immediately listen to ‘Say Whats Real’ where Drake goes in hard over the Kanye beat for Say You Will. I’ve been rewinding that one all night.

You can listen to Drake featuring Lil Wayne while your waiting for your download.

Also go search for Comeback Season, if you want to hear where it all started for Drake.

Part6 is coming.

No. I’m not talking about KRS Brown beating Rihanna down in his rented Lambo. Shame on you kid. Don’t you know you can’t be strangling a superstar? Anyway, people say that the highlight was Radiohead, but I can’t lie. I’m a hater. No love at all. I even tried to watch their performance but…I just have no love for that shieeeeee. But I did enjoy MIA coming out on the date her baby was due to still perform with the Swaggur boyz. Dope.

by the way, how awful is that writing on the top of youtube now. Come on people.

But I do have a confession. I am starting to like Twitter. I’ve figured out the key. You need like 1 or 200 people to follow then it’s funny. The best thing about the Grammys was Diplo vs Questlove on Twitter. But don’t follow MC Hammer. It’s kind of silly to think about that but don’t do it. He’ll preach at you and I can’t figure out how to UNfollow someone.

Here’s how the mind of a lunatic works

Saturday I was getting ready to soak my brain in various alcoholic beverages, but I had to click some Innanets first. I was on and saw this video:

actually, i probably watched it three or four times. I just love that old funky shieeeeet and I’m thinking that 2009 is the year that a British rapper makes it big in the US (more on that later). Anyway, with the Apache break, it’s hard to go wrong. But it’s also hard to keep things sounding fresh, and this surely does. But what was the other sample? Lou Rawls-Dead End Street

I’m a sucker for that old talking rap for like two minutes before a song actually starts, but I’ve never really liked Lou Rawls. Until now. That shit is funky. Yeah. But After searching for both of these songs, I came up pretty empty because Chase and Status are Drum and Bass producers who have recently done an Essential Mix for BBC, so searching for that song is only in the middle of the mix where as a DJ, you want the whole track. Anyway, I put the call out on the Internet and within 24 hours, I had both tracks and an Elephant Man that blows up the spot. I’m not gonna give it to you yet, cause I have a rule that I want to at least play a track once out before I give it away. So if you are going to be in the dirty South this weekend, swing through the ROOF bar and watch the magic go down.n574015318_5800994_5458

I promise I’ll put up those tracks next week as we fire it up for HHHT6 in Taichung City. The other British rapper who has the chance to blow. Wiley. Wearing MY Rolex is a bit old, but I like the term Electro Grime a lot.

Bubbly Bubbly–this goes out to all the English teachers in the house.

and finally, in the UK, there’s a new-ish style of music called Funky. Not to be confused with Funk. Or Funky House. It’s just Funky. And I’m not sure what else is out there, but Kyla voice is really nice. Exactly what’d I’d want to her right before I feel asleep.
Look out.

There’s more new shiiii in the works. Out with the old and in with the new.

PS. This is amazing. Obama read his own book. In it, he does the voice of some of his friends cussing up a storm saying things liek I’m tired of the motherfu*&ing Shhiiiieeeeeee. Download and remix to your hearts delight
