Drake’s New Video for ‘Find Your Love, Filmed in Yard (Jamaica).
New Busta too
Don’t know why I used that title, I just like the sound of the word combination I guess. Anyways, on to things that are good. I talk about Drake alot on this blog. Why? Because Canadians have often been criticized for not supporting home grown talent.
We’ve seen talented artists like Kardinal, Saukrates and others hit a certain level of success, but never truly breaking through and making the impact that Drake is making.
In my opinion Drake has all the pieces in place to run and compete with the big boys and I believe what he’s doing is bringing light to a city that has always had great musical talent. The evidence of that will reveal itself this summer. Anyways here’s a little feature that CNN did about this upcoming Canadian talent that is Drake.

Then I came across this little ditty from Cee Lo Green. Seems the theme of ‘wanting you’ means this might be the summer of love all over again. I love music that sounds like summer. Once a download link is available for this one. I’ll have it up.
I want you to want me too.
Good Monday to ya.
A little something I saw on the various uses of the ipad for making music. This could open up a whole new genre for ipad musical performance and production. See more and read the full article here
And a little something to help your morning out, some new bars from Drake at a show in Syracuse.
‘Im 23 with a money tree…growing more too, I just planted a hundred seeds.’
Word to the Bangles.
Don’t you love sundays?
I know you love that new music too.
Sunday’s offering brings us some new Saukrates going in over Drake’s Over beat.

Free Hugs today.
New school galore hey? First Theophilus, then Curren$y and now, the highly touted Mr. Cole.
I don’t know about J. Cole yet. Like unquestionably, this guy can rap, I won’t deny that. But already, this early on in his career, I find myself glazing over when I hear him rap. His content along with cats like Big Sean, XV, Drake so on and so forth all make me hate the youth of today and just makes me go throw the Ecstatic back in rotation just to cleanse my mind.
Anyway, here goes his first official single. Thoughts?
Today is all about clapping. Whether it be AK’s or appendages is up to you, just make sure it’s out of joy.
LIFE IS BETTER
After finally releasing the super duper illness known as Kamaal the Abstract. The man Kamaal Fareed, better known as Q-Tip, has just released a new single (and arguably my favorite tune off his previous album this year the Renaissance) entitled Life is Better. Although on paper the content may seem a bit ‘been there, done that’ish, Q-Tip, accompanied by one of the most soothing vocal qualities of the past quarter-century, Norah Jones, somehow still manage to make it feel fresh. Or maybe that’s just my opinion.
Either way, this tune is bomb.
Following along the same content lines are 2 underground legends: Del the Funky Homosapien and Tame One (who are also Ice Cube’s and Redman’s cousins respectively) who are gearing up for their upcoming duo album, Parallel Uni-Verses . The song isn’t near as compelling as it could be, but Del is still a monster.
Del the Funky Homosapien & Tame One – Flashback
First you heard it. Now you get to see it.
The ‘Swagga Like Us‘ of 2009. I give you Drizzy Drake, Lil Weezy Wee, Kanyeezy and Em. Fresh off the More Than A Game Soundtrack, Forever.
For those paying close attention to the last verse, aside from Eminem sounding like he might be back to his old form, you may’ve also noticed 4 characters that’ve been frequenting the HHHT blog for the past little while standing behind him. Yes, that was Slaughterhouse and yes, rumor has it they’re slated to be the next artists on Shady Records. Now I have no idea whether or not this is actually going to go through, but with a machine like Shady/Aftermath behind these four extremely talented spitters, it may mark the beginning of a new era in the mainstream game. A ‘return to form’ so to speak. Anyway, here’s a brand new tune from former Aftermath signee, and the best Latino role model since Big Pun…
Toronto-based artists LEO37 + Sunclef have been busy boys. First separately touring Canada and the States as a part of the WPBE and Zaki Ibrahim‘s crew respectively, then uniting to conquer a 15-date Canadian tour with fellow PPF Housemates, MAGNOLIUS. All self-booked and self-produced, their inaugural run has been so great that, to show their appreciation for the love they’ve received, PPF House has decided to officially release their new single for FREE.

That’s the word people.
Get it poppin.
HHHTowards the Right (Geographically, not politically),
In the last decade, the once dominant East Coast (Home of everyone from De La Soul to the Notorious B.I.G., the Juice Crew to the Wu-Tang Clan) have struggled to stay on top of the rap food chain as their necessity for cadence and concept has been dwarfed by the Souths ever infectious ‘Bounce’ and ‘Hook’ approach. And well, while living legends Jay-Z and Nas still continue to dominate whenever they appear, the notion of a new East Coast dynasty remains myth like Lebron’s Championship ring.
However, as an over obsessive rap Stan, I’ve noticed something this year that has somehow slipped under the mainstream media’s radar…THE EAST IS BACK! Now I won’t go so far as to say a new Dynasty is on the horizon because quite frankly, outside of a handful of artists, the East is still selling less than the South. But for those who just love themselves some East Coast ish, 2009’s been good to you!
Lemme break it down:
- Jadakiss pushed 100,000 his first week.
- Mos Def had in my opinion (and Diddy’s apparently), the best album of the year – PRETTY DANCER’S MY SHIT!
- Fabolous, although coming with less than stellar singles, actually had his best album yet (check Pachanga).
- Wu-Tang CAME (and left again).
- De La Soul celebrated their 20th anniversary with an incredible tour (yes I was there and yes it was the best I’ve ever seen them).
- Busta stayed relevant.
- Q-Tip released (and re-released) 2 ridiculous records!
- Drake is hotter than fresh caca outta Dumbo.
- Slaughterhouse‘s Joe Budden and Joell Ortiz continue to spit crazy bars.
- KRS-One and Buckshot proved they can still punch with the best of’em.
- Meth & Red stayed INTERNATIONAL!
- Raekwon & Ghost both released excellent albums as well as confirmed an upcoming trio record with Meth.
- And finally, Jay came back and made up for that black eye known as Kingdom Come.
Well, to add to this nice list of 2009 accomplishments, how bout a few more goodies that slid across my desktop this past week (and a few that came out during the HHHT hiatus).
HOV’ WITH ONE OF THE BEST COMMERCIALS EVER!
GHOST WITH SOME CLASSIC ISH (nsfw)
Jadakiss & Rakim – Euphoria (w/ Tags unfortunately)
AND THE ROOTS! ROOTS! ROOOOOOTS!!
I’m feelin good people. Get to my level.
HHHT, we off that.
I hate saying its been a minute, so lets not state the obvious. Life is like a box of chocolate, sometimes you put it in the fridge and let it cool for a minute. Without further ado, lets get to the goods.
Its 4th quarter and much like Pat Riley and the Knicks, the music industry is always on some ‘own the 4th’ type shit. They usually put out a bunch of releases in anticipation of blazing Christmas sales. So the month of September has blessed us with releases from elder statesman Jay-z, Wu veteran Raekwon, Drake dropped the retail release of ‘So Far Gone’ and hipster-hopper Kid Cudi released his debut also.
For this post, I’m gonna focus on 2 of those 4. My hometown(Toronto) hero Drizzy and the reigning King of NY, Jigga that knee grow. Both have been covered extensively on the net in the last few weeks, Jay was on the cover of XXL, and Drizzy was on the cover of The Fader (which has launched many a career with a cover shot:Movado, Kanye, Santogold, TVOTR, etc)
Click the cover for the article
And the Jigga man gets full frontal on XXL
In my recent internet trollings, I came across this little ditty about how Jay’s cover came together.
And my last offering from the Jigga man. Concert footage from the 9/11 show in New York. This show is awesome, he performs hits from the new album. Kid Cudi, Kanye, Rihanna, Santogold, Pharrell and Memphis all show up alongside the 5 boroughs of the big apple. Jay has a true grip and stronghold on that city. Check for yourself.

We off that.
…will get you no where. Whoever said that wasn’t a rapper. Apparently, when you’re a rapper, you can say things like ‘I wish I could f*ck every girl in the world’ and girls will sing along. I’m amazed.
I often talk about Weezy and Drake on this blog. They’re a pretty lethal one-two punch right now. Young Money is the crew that Weezy put together and this is their ode to the fairer sex.
The 4 day weekend starts tomorrow. Fellas watch the video and be inspired. Ladies….its the thought that counts…right?
