Howie Shia make good drawings.

He make dem Real good.

Like Cap did a few days ago with Drizzy, I’m gonna have to get my brag on and rundown some quick stats about another hometown hero.

The heart of Toronto-based production firm, PPF House, Howie (a.k.a. S. Pop) has created/composed both independent and commercial animation, illustration and music for the likes of: The U.N. – Habitat project (yes the actual United Nations, not the rap group), the YMCA, NikePresto Campaign, the National Film Board of Canada, numerous publications, theatre companies, bands, etc. etc. etc.

His project with the NFB, Flutter, not only earned him high-fives from all his homies but a slew of awards including ‘Best Short Film’ at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival and the Tokyo International Anime Fair’s ‘Grand Prize’ (First Canadian to ever do so).

Currently developing 2 original animated series’ with Portfolio Entertainment, Teletoon & Disney’s Jetix Europe, along side more video work for the NFB, as well as written/illustrated works for Image Comics…Howie’s killin’em for ’09.

But in the illustrious words of Teddy Ruxpin: “Don’t take my word for it”

…For clothing he’s designed.

…And for Videos:

And if by the end of this all, you’re still not a fan…

…here’s something I found by accident.

Oh, btw, I didn’t forget. HHHT6 got BLASTED!  But there’ll be more on that tomorrow as we provide you with visual documentation.

Have a dope Monday folks.

My name’s Triple and HHHT is the brand.

Now that the love has gone, lets get back to business like EPMD. I know Marcus A, got something sick he’s cooking up for release sometime this week or next. The crew, 3H’s followed by a T,(thats us for those who dont know…High Heels and High Tops. HHHT) got Taichung on alert for Saturday February 21st. Its going down again at Light Lounge. Taipei City dont worry, although we’re still recovering from the Tittsworth X HHHT collab that went down during CNY. Evidence is located here and here. We are getting ready to hit you up once again with that good ish. Stay Tuned

Here’s a little something for you to enjoy on your Monday. I know there are a few sneakerheads out here, here’s a little something CBS Sunday Morning did on SneakerHeads. Listen out for the Taipei shoutout at around 6 minutes.

Apparently CBS Sunday Morning has someone cool working there, here’s a little something they did on street artist KAWS.

CAP

After the buckets of views yesterday,  I can only presume that Joe Russo is what y’all want.

So as promised….part deux.

And Dammit if it ain’t new Release Tuesday.

I got them yum yums for your EARea.

First up, Mr. Rhymes on his ol’ skool hip-hop ISH!  A KRS sample?!  Word up.  Haven’t heard someone rock one of those in awhile (which I don’t completely understand cause his samples are FREE and he’s oh so quote worthy).  If I didn’t know better, B.O.M.B.‘s on the waaaaay.

Busta Rhymes – Wack (click flick for dl)

“CAM’RON IS BACK!!”

Now generally hearing that statement, I’d be underwhelmed to say the least.  I’m a fan of like 6 songs and a handful of guest verses in his 11 year existance and most of those songs occurred in the first half of his run.  That being said, I like this new tune a LOT!  Cam goes left on this one and does a ‘Working Class’ song?!? No Poppin Champagne for this Dipset General…no sir.

Cam’ron – I Hate My Job (click flick for dl)

And finally, as a special treat FREEBASS808.  At first I wasn’t too sure who they were but they sounded dope and the emcee sounded a lot like the Geechie Gracious (he be sippin armaretto)….well turns out…it IS!  A new solo project between Camp Lo’s Geechi Suede (a.k.a. Suede Heron) and producer Apple Juice Kid (a.k.a. Apple Crack)…the clip is short but promising (Cap I think you’ll likey).

FREEBASS808 – Morphing (click flick for dl)

*Bonus – Raekwon feat. Ghostface & Method Man – Wu Ohh (High Quality)* – the Untitled song from yesterday.

Sofakinglater is in 3 days people!
Next HHHT event to be announced in a matter of days…stay tuned.

HHHT Patrons,

It’s my honor and privilege to inform you that: PLUSH GOT TURNED OUT!!!

Like, I don’t mean for this blog to become monotonous and maintain the same “we did awesome, the party was rocked, blah, blah” schtick after every HHHT-involved show, but hey, if we were to have a schtick, ‘Turning (insert venue name here) Out’ isn’t such a bad gimmick.

Tittsworth is a Massacre inducing superstar.  Something you don’t readily presume from his friendly, polite demeanor.  He turned the capacity crowd into one heaping mess of flailing arms and legs and I’m pretty positive everyone has Usain Bolt-type calves as of yesterday.  This man is definitely one DJ you must see during your clubbing tenure.

Now now, aside from the headliner, I can’t forget the fantastic HHHT cast who not only served as the support for the evening, but showed why we ARE the heaviest crew on the island.  Carl Winslow heavy? Nope.  Uncle PHIL heavy.  Word up.  Also, big shout out to Patricia and crew for throwing together this heaping pile of goodness.

Anyways….it was an amazing night and we’ll be hitting you up with the visual proof ASAP.

In the meantime, I give you goodies.

Everyone in the world loves’em and so should you.

Raekwon Feat. Ghostface – Criminology ’09 (click flick for dl)

They’re back and continue to keep killing faces.  Beatnick & K-Salaam refix one of the world’s greatest baby making anthems.

Marvin Gaye – Let’s Get It On (Beatnick & K-Salaam) [click flick for dl]

And while we’re on the subject….how bout some unreleased Mos Def & Sizzla over some more Beatnick & K-Salaam gravy.

Mos Def Feat. Sizzla – Victory (click flick for dl)

Finally…I’m proud to announce that the PPF House website will be re-launching February 1st featuring new art, music and movies from their new expanded roster of talent including: howie shia, the Worst Pop Band Ever, LEO37, Sunclef, MAGNOLIUS and the Abyss. So be sure to check that out.  ’09 is goodie time.

You can also head to their myspace page to acquaint yourself with the Toronto-based production label until Sunday.  www.myspace.com/ppfhouse

Have a great weekend folks.

Triple.

A word that has many meanings, two of them being: eurphoric or intoxicated on drugs. ‘High’ is the word I often hear club owners and managers in Taipei use to describe how the people should be feeling.
‘Make the people feel high’.
‘Well….give them some weed n-word!’ is often my response.

tunnel
But I digress, tomorrow (Thursday, January 29) night the HHHT crew will be rocking alongside one of the greats in the party scene, Tittsworth. Hit that link to get to all his pages, myspace, facebook, twitter, press, mixes and naked pics.
Tittsworth mixes fast and plays hard. He will definitely keep yo ass shaking, all night long. The last time he was here in Taipei, he played Roxy Vibe. Yes that Vibe, and the night was teetering on madness the entire time he was on the decks. Its one of the only nights where i’ve seen everyone inside dancing. Musically his sets run from booty to electro, to 80’s, to floor stomping b-more, hip hop, rock and beyond. You will smile. You will dance. You will want more.
He’s just finished an 8 city tour of Australia and Taipei is the first stop on the asian leg of this tour which will see him also stopping in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Bangkok and Singapore.
Tomorrow night @ Plush its the first stop of the BROKE THESE DAYS TOUR.

You can download the exclusive BROKE THESE DAYS MIX

CAP

You want the new.

I give you the new.

Un. Busta Rhymes feat. Young Jeezy and Jadakiss – Conglomerate.

Originally featured on Busta’s mixtape ‘Back On My Shit’ (the prequel to B.O.M.B. – cover art below) – not sure if this version is just a street single, or if it’ll be on the new record.  Whaddya think?

Click flick for DL – I like this cover very very much.

Deux. Jadakiss – Can’t Stop Me.

Like I’ve always said, I like me some Jadakiss.  However, as I’ve also always said…he picks some poo poo beats.  This one is one of the better tunes that I’ve heard from his upcoming – The Last Kiss. You like?

Click flick for DL

Trois. Hollyweerd – Electricity Showroom (full mixtape)

These guys are dope.  At least I think so.  A mish mash of Sa-Ra, the Coup, Outkast and Big Black Lincoln….they could be big (At least ATL thinks so….).

Click Flick for DL

Quatre.Blu – Til We Die

Since last year’s Blu & ExileBelow The Heavens, I was hooked.  This L.A. gabber’s intricate lyrics and sensitive cadences reflect not only a man who actually still loves his craft but more importantly, someone who believes in positive change in our less than inspired climate.

Not sure if I like his solo stuff better than his stuff with Exile, but regardless, he’s yet to fall short (personally).

**Bonus**

Blu – Vanity

Dos. A brand new tune from the ESPN bloggin, Codeine sippin, Dreadlock swingin, Air Guitar Champion,  Mr. Martian Goblin himself, Weezy F. Baby.

Now, I’ve generally tried to refrain from posting on ‘The Next in Line’ for our blog, not out of hate or censorship, but quite frankly, he’s on everything, everywhere, everyday.  So I figured, one less outlet really wouldn’t be an issue.  But booooy….do I like what Pharrell gave him this time.

Whaddya think?  Good? Not so much? Lemme know.

Click flick for DL

Lil Wayne – Yes Feat. Pharrell

Tres. This was gettin a lot of internet love last week, but in case you missed it…

Visual artist Joe Buck, best known for his ‘De La Soul is Dead’ cover, took it upon himself to reinterpret some other classic (and not-so classic) album covers. In his own words:

“Free revised cover art. This is not to say that the original art isn’t great. This is just my vision”.

They’re all very dope.  Covering Q-Tip, Dilla, T-Pain, Kanye, Ludacris & even an Obama mixtape, you need to CHECK THESE HERE.

Cuatro . Triple.

Shine up your pumps and toothbrush your dunks cause HHHT3 is HERE!

To prepare, I give you some jams that are guaranteed to get your posterior doin the sway as you put on your Saturday Best.

The Godfather of U.K. Grime, leader of Roll Deep and inventor of Eskibeat back with his own brand of hip-house.  Off his newest release See Clear Now.  Perhaps not the genre defining opus his first release was, but a very solid record nonetheless.

WILEY – TURN IT UP

Some new dope from 2 of the worlds foremost authorities on Canibus Sativa, the Cypress Hill General and Heir Gong.

sidenote – if you get a chance to see Jr. Gong live…DO IT!

B-REAL – FIRE feat. DAMIAN ‘JR. GONG’ MARLEY

And finally, some NEW new from ATL’s most recent scene stirrers.  If the Coup, Outkast, Sa-Ra and Big Black Lincoln had a baby, they would be Hollyweerd. (Stay tuned for full mixtape DL on Tuesday.)

HOLLYWEERD – I’M SOUL/FIRST CLASS

That’s it for now.  Got a ton more goodies for you tomorrow…but only if you come out tonight.

Light Lounge.
See you there.
Triple.

Oooooh…we’re soooo close.  I can smell it….and it smells like Deliciousnessess.

Tomorrow IS HHHT3:Taichung Edition…and to prepare, I’ve got a ton more goodies to keep your head bopulatin til tomorrow even’n.

Let us begin with Jumpoff Joe Beezy.

As I previously posted around NYE’ish, I’m a fan of Joe Budden: A smart dude with ridiculous 16’s (although he tends to rock 24’s or 32’s).  He’s been receiving many commends for his recent display of logic and common sense, and well, he’s back with some more…this time kickin it towards DJ Vlad on Shade 45’s Lip Service:

And just for good measure, a tune off Budden’s latest Halfway House. The album’s not great, but this is a nice tune.

Joe Budden – Sidetracked

And well, as anyone on the team can vouch, I’m a large Dilla fan.  And although I’m usually really eager to embrace all Dilla related products, since his passing, there have been a slew of people getting on Dilla beats that I don’t readily assume would have had the opportunity had he not fallen ill.

The following was another potential case.  I’m not Termanology’s biggest fan, and originally wasn’t going to post this, but after a quick run through…the beats are dope, there are some great guestspots and quite frankly, he does a pretty decent job (I guess there’s a reason why he’s Primo co-signed — see previous post). Anyways…some definite Bopulatin on this…nice to have on while you’re workin on stuff….

Click Flick for DL

And finally, in case you wanted to just hear some straight up, dope ass, raw ass Dilla.  I give you some more unreleased ish.  This time, his collabo with (then Roc-A-Fella Freshman) Kanye West.

Click Flick for DL

I’ll see you tomorrow night.

Triple.

HHHT Folk…..

I’m just on my way out the door so I won’t really blab too much.  I’ll just get right to the goodies.

First up….another BLAZING remix from K-Salaam and Beatnik.  This time they absolutely mash the Jackson 5’s ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’.   Oooooh….I like this one.

Click Flick for DL

Next…some more New Old demo stuff from Biggie Biggie Biggie off the upcoming Notorious soundtrack.  What can I say….he was good at what he did.

Notorious B.I.G. – Love No Hoe (Original Demo)
Notorious B.I.G. – Guaranteed Raw

And finally, DJ Premier’s top 20 Hip-Hop albums of ’08!
