HHHTwice Again,
We continue the Pair Up legacy today with heavy hitters from East to South, West to Midwest.
LEADERS OF THE NEW OLD SCHOOL
Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes have been at it for a loooong time.
And while still relevant to the culture, Doggystyle and the Coming would definitely be considered Old School to today’s youth. That being said, it really is a testament to the grind and pedigree of these two that they’ve been able to stay atop the food chain without completely losing that character we’ve all come to know and love.
Coming together once again for a remix of Snoop’s new badass banger, I Wanna Rock, Busta comes and shows some East Coast love to the West Coast Don.

And check the new vid too…
THE ‘D’ TO THE ‘A’
Royce and Cee-Lo.
Not a collab I would’ve ever thought of, but a dope one nonetheless. Royce is obviously heavy with his pen game and Cee-Lo, well, I’d go so far as to say he’s one of hip-hop’s most under appreciated lyricists and spitters ever. Not to mention versatile. I do love his singing voice plenty, but much like Andre 3000, I think their singing stuff is dope, but I really want them to get back to some good ol’ spitting, if only for just one album.
Luckily for us, Goodie Mob seems to be reunited and working together again, meanwhile we’re still waiting on that Slaughterhouse/Aftermath deal to be confirmed.
Anyway, on with the show…
ROYCE DA 5’9″ ft. CEE-LO – POLITICS
And a special Pair Up bonus, that RAW ish:
ROYCE DA 5’9″ ft. BUSTA RHYMES – DINNER TIME
THE OASIS BROTHERS
Nope I ain’t talkin Noel and Liam.
Making their 2nd appearance on Pair Up, off the upcoming The Oasis, I give you some more of that grown man ish.
******SUPER BONUS*******
I don’t need to say ish bout this.
All salute the fathers of that ‘Do your own ish’ mentality.
20 years and rising…
It’s Saturday folk. Get it in.

HHHTenacious,
Today is all about clapping. Whether it be AK’s or appendages is up to you, just make sure it’s out of joy.
LIFE IS BETTER
After finally releasing the super duper illness known as Kamaal the Abstract. The man Kamaal Fareed, better known as Q-Tip, has just released a new single (and arguably my favorite tune off his previous album this year the Renaissance) entitled Life is Better. Although on paper the content may seem a bit ‘been there, done that’ish, Q-Tip, accompanied by one of the most soothing vocal qualities of the past quarter-century, Norah Jones, somehow still manage to make it feel fresh. Or maybe that’s just my opinion.
Either way, this tune is bomb.

Following along the same content lines are 2 underground legends: Del the Funky Homosapien and Tame One (who are also Ice Cube’s and Redman’s cousins respectively) who are gearing up for their upcoming duo album, Parallel Uni-Verses . The song isn’t near as compelling as it could be, but Del is still a monster.

FOREVER
First you heard it. Now you get to see it.
The ‘Swagga Like Us‘ of 2009. I give you Drizzy Drake, Lil Weezy Wee, Kanyeezy and Em. Fresh off the More Than A Game Soundtrack, Forever.
**Bonus**
For those paying close attention to the last verse, aside from Eminem sounding like he might be back to his old form, you may’ve also noticed 4 characters that’ve been frequenting the HHHT blog for the past little while standing behind him. Yes, that was Slaughterhouse and yes, rumor has it they’re slated to be the next artists on Shady Records. Now I have no idea whether or not this is actually going to go through, but with a machine like Shady/Aftermath behind these four extremely talented spitters, it may mark the beginning of a new era in the mainstream game. A ‘return to form’ so to speak. Anyway, here’s a brand new tune from former Aftermath signee, and the best Latino role model since Big Pun…
Joell Ortiz feat. Novel – Call Me
APPLAUSE
Toronto-based artists LEO37 + Sunclef have been busy boys. First separately touring Canada and the States as a part of the WPBE and Zaki Ibrahim‘s crew respectively, then uniting to conquer a 15-date Canadian tour with fellow PPF Housemates, MAGNOLIUS. All self-booked and self-produced, their inaugural run has been so great that, to show their appreciation for the love they’ve received, PPF House has decided to officially release their new single for FREE.

That’s the word people.

HHHTrue Schoolers,
If you’re a regular of this blog, then chances are you’re into some raw-@$$-ness.
In previous posts the names of M.O.P. (obviously), as well as the members of the Slaughterhouse (Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and Royce Da 5’9″) have all come up and generally under a positive light.
Well, they’re alllll back again…….and this time…….together.
Having collaborated for the upcoming Slaughterhouse album, here’s some footage of them in studio just finishing the track alongside DJ Premier and Showbiz (of D.I.T.C.) as well as the Freebie. Rawness indeed.
Slaughterhouse – Woodstock feat. M.O.P.
Also, since we’re on the topic of Slaughterhouse. Joell Ortiz, who most of you still know as the guy Dre signed to Aftermath (only to ask for his release shortly after) is preparing to release a documentary about his career thus far. This is the first I’ve really heard or seen anything from it and it looks kinda interesting or it could be the trailer covered it all, either way, here it is.
And finally, as the subject of this post is ‘Pair Up’s, as in dope collabs and what not. I was recently made privy to this info that definitely qualifies under such a topic.
Buzz Aldrin. Yes, the 2nd man on the Moon Buzz Aldrin revealed recently to the New York Times that he in fact just finished collabing with the Doggfather himself, big Snoop Dogg for Will Ferrell‘s www.funnyordie.com. When asked if he actually sang in the video, Buzz replied: “I relate. It’s not singing, it’s rapping.”
That’s wicked.

That’s Monday people.

As album sales increasingly decline, it seems that official CD releases are following the trend as the next few weeks look barren at best. All the while, online mixtape downloads seem to be doubling and tripling. So, as not to combat the grain of the market, I give you a bunch of new DL’s for your listening pleasure.
First up, Jim Jones.
The Dipset Capo definitely knows how to market himself. Every time he drops a ‘Ballin‘ or a ‘Pop Champagne’, he has the good sense to jump on a Ghostface or Kid Cudi joint and actually hold his own (yes…I said it). And well, I still can’t tell you why I like him, or why anyone does….perhaps it’s one of those ‘Je ne sais quoi’s (or what Jim lovingly refers to as his[the most overused word in the world right now] swagger) or maybe it’s just time for Pigpen to succeed. Anyways…here he is once more, this time with Hip-Hop’s Zach Morris, Asher Roth doing a remix of ‘I Love College’.
Asher Roth ft. Jim Jones – I Love College (Harlem Mix)
…Taipei’s Newest Imports…
Haha…I still have NO idea how or why DJ Paul and Juicy J were in Taipei on NYE, but I heard they scared the bejeezus out of the crowd and rocked them pretty senseless. So, hopefully that means more Three6Mafia in the clubs and less Flo Rida. YAAAAY!!!!
Here’re are a couple new tunes from the brains behind Crunk Music….
Three 6 Mafia – DAMN Feat. Project Pat
Three 6 Mafia – They Don’t Like That (Club)
New mixtape ish from Blacksmith Music.
This time Blacksmith CEO, Talib Kweli, long time collaborator, Res, and Toronto indie darling, Graph Nobel have combined to create Idle Worship. No word as to whether there will be an album or if this is just for fun, but here they are debuting over Busta’s ‘How we do it over here’ beat by Dr. Dre.
Idle Worship – Try It On (howwedoitoverhere)
Finally, if you’re like me, you were bombarded by Loud.com on your myspace and facebook a few months back talking about a competition to be the next Loud signee.
Well, aside from my general reservations of online contests, I also figured there’d be no way I could be among the finalists strictly based on my lack of gangsterific content. Well, I was wrong….they picked dope lyricists….only problem is that you had to be a semi-celebrity FIRST, to even be considered a finalist (or so it would seem).
Loud has released their contest mixtape featuring the likes of:
- Jake One : Underground uber producer. Has worked with everyone from Posdnuous to 50 Cent and had one of the best hip-hop albums of ’08.
- Brother Ali : Atmosphere labelmate and underground champion
- Eyedea : Another underground darling, although I think his DJ, DJ Abilities, outshines him like a sun to a candle.
- Royce Da 5’9″: You already know about him.
So yeah….check it out…it’s still a good collection of artists, just lacking in the contest department.
That’s it from me.
The crew will be centralized back in Taipei very soon, so expect more posts from the fellas in the next few weeks.
Triple.
Gangstas and Gangsterettes,
I bring you news of G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time) sightings.
First off….something from the most recent person to claim the title of G.O.A.T., Li’l Weezy Wee gettin his Don LaFontaine on for Gatorade’s new ad campaign. Maybe instead of Sprite, Wayne’ll start mixing his codeine with Gatorade now.
Second…something from Weezy Goldberg’s on-again/off-again Idol (depending on Sizzurp intake) paired with the G.O.A.T. from another world.
I’m a huge fan of both these guys, but this idea is starting to get tired for me. However, I’ve yet to listen to this so there’s always a chance for dopeness.
Jay-Z vs. Radiohead = Jaydiohead (Click Flick for DL)
…And lastly, the G.O.A.T. argument.
No, it’s not Marcus and I jousting over Dre vs. Dilla, or D’Angelo’s greatness….nono….some pure entertainment as Charles Hamilton, Joe Budden, Royce Da 5’9″, DJ Enuff and a slew of entourage go at it over who the G.O.A.T. is.
I always loved these arguments.
