All Access Fridays presents:

The History of Halloween by Wikipedia (because I’m a lazy ‘computer generation’ kid who’s far too reliable on Wikipedia and it’s deliciously quick analysis of everything EVER that I’ve almost forgotten what books smell like. Actually….maybe someone can tell me…do kids still have to reference books in their social studies reports or can they just go online now?..anywhoo):

Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain: a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, and is sometimes regarded as the “Celtic New Year”. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, the boundary between the alive and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them.

So there you go…from ‘Celtic New Year’ to ‘Sexy Cat outfits’.

*Sidebar – when did all the girl costumes decide to turn slutty? Like, don’t get me wrong…I’m not one to object at scantily clad women, but how come all the female costumes are ‘Sexy Cats’ or ‘Sexy Witches’ or ‘Sexy ghosts’. What happened to Butt Ugly Berthas and Dog Faced Gremlins for the ladies?

Anyways…while my cohorts and I hit this blog up periodically today with event updates…I’ll let you get prepared with nothing short of some gawtdamn classics.

Fellas – be nice tonight
Ladies – be ugly tonight
